Chamomile, especially in tea form, is an age-old herbal remedy for a range of complaints. It’s a great help for anxiety and depression, safe enough for a colicky baby, and potentially strong enough to take in the place of NSAIDs like aspirin (and temper inflammation without the side effects!). Given that chamomile is a bitter herb, it can also stimulate digestive secretions and help calm indigestion and inflammatory bowel conditions. My grandfather, who lived happily until the age of 92, often sipped on chamomile tea! A hot cup of chamomile is a wonderful, calming bedtime ritual I often suggest to my clients (with a secondary benefit: the extra hydration!).

To make the tea, place three tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers in a tea pot of boiling water, let steep for 7 minutes. Enjoy sipping on the goodness!
